Fashion: Layers In Creamy Tux

20131023_122453xTGIF! From Paris with love –speaking of the layered sleeve cape style jacket by Irfe Paris worn over a pair of Victor&Rolf tuxedo fringe pants. Of course, you can never go wrong with champagne colored Dior shoes, Chanel quilted leather bag and necklace. Ditto! 🙂

Alzheimer’s Association Gala

20131022_224413x copyWhat better way to give back than to associate what one loves with helping to raise funds to find cure for Alzheimer’s. Shoeholics magazine was a proud participant of the gift bags and silent auction for the guests. It’s a disease many of us are connected to either via family members or close friends. Clad in costum-made Reem Acra, I attended the star-studded fund raising gala chaired by Princess Yasmin Aga Khan for the Alzheimer’s Association in loving memory of her mother, Actress Rita Hayworth in NYC. I saw old friends and made new ones. It was a fun night had by all. Click here to see the extended coverage at Shoeholics Club.

Pre Halloween Bash: Punk Rocking It!

2013Just when I thought I was sick and tired of all things spiked, this huge spiked shoulder corset top came my way when I received an invitation to a punk rock theme birthday/pre-Halloween party with a few of my close friends this Saturday. I have to say it would be my very first time going full on rock in my life and I’m in love! I left no stones unturned, had ear cuffs, rings and faux hawk with my own hair for full effect. I felt confident, daring and dare I say it …FEARLESS! I might just adopt this look for a while and ride this one out all the way. I’m enjoying this new phase in my life. Life is too short for hang ups and nuances. I would gladly try anything at least once! The party was beyond FUN! Thanks to my friends Celine, Eric, Cocoa, Pierre, Bryan and Brenda for such a lovely weekend! 🙂

Helen Mirren vs Rita Ora! Oh My!

article-2468913-18CDF58A00000578-759_306x645It was a fashion face-off that proved style has no age limit!
Oscar-winner Helen Mirren, 68, was pictured wearing the same red Dolce & Gabbana dress popstar Rita Ora, 22, wore just a few weeks previously.
The actress paired her floor-length racy lace number with a full slip allowing her shape to take centre stage in Hong Kong on Thursday, as Ora wore the transparent frock over a leopard print body, showing off her legs in all their glory. Hmm…who do you think wore it best?

Does Nicole Kidman Age At All?

I have observed many pale white skin women aging rather quickly compared to their easy tanning white counterparts but take a look at Academy Award winning actress, Nicole Kidman! I usually don’t coo over any Hollywood personality but this one is hard to ignore. She hasn’t aged a day in 20 years! She’s a timeless beauty without a single hair out of place! I would like to know the fountain of youth she swims in!

Fashion For A Cause: Wear Pink!

20131008_163627x copyIt’s that time of the year, the month of October to remember and support a great cause. Breast cancer is still alive and well and we need to each find our own special way to help spread the word far and wide.  I’m wearing pink today for my dear friend and one of my role models, Edna. Click here to read her unique survival story. She is a strong survivor and still going strong at 72! I hope to be half as strong and free spirited when I get to be her age. Her energy is contagious and I can’t get enough! Just look at her “Forever 71” picture she took shortly before her 72 birthday farther below. Isn’t she quite something? Gosh, I love this woman! Support your local breast cancer organizations, WEAR PINK!

An Indian For A Day

1383258_10151994139226654_1882289747_nxThe Association of Indians in America put on a fabulous Deepavali Festival of Lights event at South Street Seaport in New York City yesterday. It gave me the perfect excuse to dust off the red silk salwar kameez I bought and wore in India during my visit. Still good as new and still fits! Thank God. I blended in quite well considering most southern Indians are usually as dark skin as me and I happen to speak a bit of Hindi, just a bit. The event had food, merchandise vendors and live entertainment. Water street could have been mistaken for a street fair in New Delhi. I had loads of fun judging by the images below which includes me getting a henna and immersing myself in the Bollywood movie set scenery. 🙂
