SantaCon is an annual mass gathering of people dressed in Santa Claus costumes parading publicly on streets and in bars in cities around the world. The focus is on spontaneity and creativity, while having a good time and spreading cheer and goodwill.

In 1974, the Danish activist theatre group Solvognen first brought a small army of Santa Clauses onto the streets of Copenhagen.

Naturally, I didn’t waste anytime to whip out something festive out of my closet, fished out my annual gift wrap long sleeve top and green jeans and voila! I was ready to hit the town armed with my camera. For the pubs and lounges worldwide,  it’s a day to make buckets of $$$ besides St. Patrick’s Day and Oktober Fest!

Ho Ho HO, Happy Holidays!

My heart goes out to all the victims in Connecticut, US, to the parents, as well as survivors of the devastating shoot out that took more than 20 young lives. No one should have to go through that all, least of all the young unarmed kids just starting out their lives.

Please correct me if I am wrong. It just hit me. Did I read somewhere that the gunman used his mother’s registered semi automatic gun? Has anyone stopped to wonder what the mother was doing with such a gun in the first place as an elementary school teacher? Is semi automatic allowed as one of the “right to bear arms” type of weapon? She must have been part of CIA/Secret Service or something. Just asking…it just dawned on me now. Hmm…again, just asking.

Innocent people are always victims of this so called “right to bear arm” rules that has taken so many lives in the US. When will someone wake up and take fun control more serious? NRA please, are you listening to their cries for mercy? This is not helping anyone at all. But then again, we heard of another man stabbing 22 people in China just yesterday. So what really gives? Gun, gas, knives, fire…sigh…

God help us all. 🙁

Yes, it’s called “wish list” meaning I get to dream a bit and count my blessings. So here we go…

This nomination is a validation of the very concept of Shoeholics Magazine as a publication dedicated to male and female shoe collectors and fashion connoisseurs. You can imagine that on top of the warm reception from our readers and supporters, that warms the cockles of our hearts, this nomination is a real feather in our collective caps!

A distinctive concept, great content and the support of our readers has increased the reach of Shoeholics Magazine exponentially. Shortly after the MIN Awards today, I made a pit stop at Fendi to say hello to my dear friend John.

I hope you had a wonderful weekend. I finally had a chance to step away from work and indulge in some much needed R & R dinning at SD26 restaurant in NYC before hitting the full party scene elsewhere. It was fun flirting in a pair of detailed Wolford stockings, Dolce and Gabbana pumps and fringed up jazzy Zara number I got a few months ago. Wore all of them for the first time except the shoes.

Some of you already emailed me asking about the stockings I posted on my Facebook page yesterday. The Wolford stockings was from a few years ago. I finally got around to wearing them! I have to say that I now regret not buying more than a pair when I had the chance. I love the way the detailed upper part shows just below the dress. I have never seen anything quite like them before. Whatever on earth took me so long to wear them!

Some key fashion pieces NEVER go out of style. It’s just as well that I still have them 🙂

White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel

Chicago mayor and former White House Chief-of-Staff Rahm Emanuel tore into Fox News host Sean Hannity tonight on live television.   Emanuel was on the conservative network to offer his opinion on the night’s election results, which saw his former boss Barack Obama reelected to the presidency for another four  years.

A devastated Hannity, however, was intent on using the occasion to vent his rage at the nights events and incessantly provoked Emanuel’s ire:  “Is Barack Obama going to move to the center? Or is he going to continue his radical Socialist policies that are destroying America?”  Hannity asked, beginning a rapid-fire sequence of badgering questions:  ‘Is he going to start paying attention to ordinary Americans?  Or his he going to continue his government of, by, and for the welfare queens?  Is he going to ask the keep apologizing to our enemies? Or is he going to show some backbone and invade somebody?  Is he ever going to release his real birth certificate?  Or is he gonna continuing lying to the American people about his Kenyan heritage?”

“Sean…sean…,” Emanuel interrupted, “Sean…sean…sean…sean…sean… … shut the fuck up.  You Lost.  Get over it and move on.  Barack Obama is president for the next four years.  No amount of childish whining will change that fact.  Why don’t you start working on improving yourself as a person, rather than finding fault in others.

“At the moment you’re a terrible, cynical human being who gets rich off of other people’s ignorance.  Your entire existence is defined by intellectual stupor and purposelessness.  There’s not a single cell of your body that has any redeeming value whatsoever – not even the intestinal cells which host your parasites.”

“I feel deeply sorry for your children and your children’s children, who will have to bear the stain of their relationship to you for their entire lives.  I am a dumber, coarser, less centered individual for even having spoken to you, and I promise I will never repeat that mistake again.”

Emanuel then removed his microphone and quietly walked off the set.

Shoeholics Magazine anniversary/holiday party took place on November 29, 2012 in New York City. So here’s my take on things, my 2 cents: What did you expect? OF COURSE IT WAS A SMASHING SUCCESS!!!

It took me more than 3 days just to get myself to write this blog, still recovering from the success and post coverage. Word has it that the party even made it all the way into paper in Europe! A copy is one the way to me now and I can’t wait to see it with my own eyes.

The party turned out far better than I had expected I must admit. Our main sponsor Kelley Simons was over the moon and enjoyed every bit of it. For me, seeing a sponsor happy is always important for any successful event. Without their support, there really will be no party…well, kind of. As expected, the night brought out some of the best shoe lovers! It was hard for me to select the Best Shoes of the night to win the shoe shaped handbag. The lovely host Sierra Scott in Swarovski crystal studded sandals could have easily won it had she not been the host. The other potential winner could have also been J.T. Anderson in Massimo Dogana thigh high snakeskin boots! Gosh, the choice was tough. In the end, Flory took home the honor when it was brought to my attention that she had designed her own shoes just for the party! How could anyone not award that kind of effort and dedication?

I sincerely apologize to some of the guests that arrived on time only to find us still setting up for the party! Pranna lounge, where the party was hosted, had us set up only 30 minutes to event start time after being told earlier that we could set up much earlier for the party. We had to do the impossible from setting up cakes, props, raffles, the works. We didn’t even get a chance to put up most of our decor. Needless to say, the Dukas glass dome decor stand by the UpperRoom Event (one of the proud sponsors) was the most photographed spot at the party. Everyone couldn’t get enough of the jaw dropping concept, having legs for heels! J’adore! Pranna turned out to be a good venue for our first year doing this party.

The lovely and charming Venus entertained the guests. She herself a shoe lover, didn’t hesitate to take on the gig despite having to come all the way from New Jersey for the event. Prior to the event, she hadn’t been to New York for a little over a year. She was very selfless to the point where she won one of the shoe raffled that night and donated it back for others to get the chance of winning! I have never met a selfless shoe lover before. It’s usually every girl for herself when talking about shoes! I have seen the claws at samples sales! Venus is an exceptional lady! 🙂

The dazzling array of shoes up for grabs had me batting my lashes and wide eyed. I had my heart set on one particular one by Francesco Sacco, the only one in my size at the raffle. I had high hopes that no one would claim it but was near tears when a tall regal looking Alvertis claimed it. Wishful thinking. I suppose I can’t be selfish and claim it all. Francesco Sacco had one specially made for me for the party, my heart was racing fast when I opened the box and out comes “little heaven on earth.” It arrived at my home 3 hours to the event via DHL still smelling of the factory in Italy! Ahhh…the smell of fresh shoes, intoxicating!

So now that the party is in the bag and more behind the scene coverage coming up in the April/June 2013 print issue of Shoeholics Magazine, many people are writing to us asking for an encore! Hmm…I suppose this calls for an annual event. We just might have a good reason to strut in our favorite shoes around the holidays. We do hope to be able to pull it off. If only we could get a liquor sponsor to back this up. Nothing beats a party with a free flowing open bar. Hear! Hear! Happy holidays!

Oh my! What a night! I was fortunate to have been invited to a very private top notch Christmas party today in New York City. And what to wear? Gilles Montezin’s flamboyant haute couture coat and Dukas wine glass heel shoes, coupled with a vintage ruby and gold wide bracelet and Vinciane Stouvenaker gold chain and leather handbag, I was set to hit the party in stride. At the party, everyone was curious to know whose shoes I was wearing knowing that I work at Shoeholics magazine and could not be caught dead in anything less than perfect. Ahhh… the pressure. I was thankful for the lovely patent gold leather wine glass heel shoes from Dukas, it lived up to their expectations. They were conversation items all by themselves. It would have been a lot easier for me to just stand in the middle of the room and model them without uttering a word! I arrived in the Gilles Montezin coat and could not wait for the opportunity to leave again just so that I could wear it again. Only this time, I ran back home to change into a plain black leather boots for my quick outdoor photo op just because I didn’t want to wear my lovely museum worthy Dukas heels out in the park while I took more pictures in Gilles Montezin’s coat! I couldn’t get enough of the coat and the shoes! Ahh…how I love the holiday season.

Well, there is one more party left on my list this week. I intend to wear the coat to Shoeholics Magazine holiday party tomorrow!
