Fashion: The Power of The “Sea”

I have been having a “weird” share of luck week, so I opted for white/blue color theme to cheer me up a bit. Trying for a feeling of being by the “sea” if you know what I mean. It was mentally and psychologically calming, I guess it worked, even if for a little while! Turquoise color does wonders to the mind.

The turquoise color leather shoes are by Casadei from a couple of years ago. Vintage diamond and semi precious stone brooch on white turban, top by Escada, Raven Denim jeans, bag by Charm & Luck also from a few years ago, and belt by the master of blinged up accessories, B.B. Simon of course. And with a touch of lime green scarf pictured further below while playing around my a jumbo “Chanel” bag.

Just another day of the week in the city.

FINALLY! Olympic Gymnast Gabby Douglas Speaks Out About Her Hair

16-year-old Olympic Gold Medalist Gabby Douglas finally talks about the infamous hair situation on Huffington Post. When the world should have been using her groundbreaking achievements to celebrate and courage other youths that will follow her, they were busy playing the fashion police using Gabby as the scapegoat.

For years we have endured how the media “dictates” the ideal  body weight/size of girls via fashion runways, this causing several of them to have dietary issues and low self esteem as we know it today. Now you can add vanity to that list, especially while busy sweating and upside during a work out! What image are we laying down for budding teenage girls in Gabby’s age group and below? You can expect every pre-teen girls around the world will be more conscious of their appearance than Kate Middleton is of her make up on royal duty photo op.

This is only the beginning.

Queen Elizabeth: How About Honorary Knighthood For Mr. Phelps?

I get some of my best ideas while in the shower. So I came up with this one. England should award MICHAEL PHELPS an HONORARY KNIGHTHOOD for his achievements as the most decorated Olympian on the planet to date, and for the fact that he broke several Olympic records on their soil. This is after all his last one. Yes, UK does give these kind of awards to non citizens.

If you agree, sound off, let’s get this message viral to make it to the Queen’s desk! Hear! Hear!

PS: New York City Mayor Rudy Giuliani has honorary knighthood from the Queen and he is American. So I don’t see why not Phelps. Just saying.

New York City: Endless Creativity

New York City is a place with endless creative energy. Photoshoots take place on the streets almost everyday. Just last week a major fashion advertisement campaign was being shoot right on the streets of Madison Avenue in between traffic lights/on coming cars. Then I stumbled into this one yesterday with the model in a Betsey Johnson platform shoes. These are showroom samples hence the reason for the tape on the sole. Trust me to spot that one from miles away!

Then you have Andre J, a guy who makes no bones about publicly declaring his fashion statement or showing off his feminine side out and about in NY.

You’ve just got to love New York City, there’s never a dull moment.

It’s Much Cheaper To Stay Fit

Finally getting the time to dig deep in my closet and discovering some good stuff I have long forgotten. I uncovered a Marc Jacobs capri pant separates I bought sometime in 98/99 when I was still working as a fashion model and in school and have never been worn! I can’t believe it still fits! I have to say, it is a lot cheaper to maintain a size than to change an entire wardrobe due to weight change. Somethings are worth hanging on to.

Haven’t had any reason to ever hit the gym yet, that I have God to thank. However, it won’t be a bad idea to start doing some kind of routine workout, I have nothing to loose in trying.

The outfit had a pair of matching shoes. I still can’t find those but I went for the Kurt Geiger pumps I acquired earlier this year. Well, it works!

Fashion: Powder Pink With Yellow? But Of Course

Call it experimenting or taking chances with a more “innocent” look. I stepped out of my usual comfort zone by opting for a yellow/white fun summer dress accessorized with soft powder pink Dior shoes and semi-precious gemstone beaded necklace. And of course, coupled with a limited edition white leather Chanel bag, nothing can go wrong.

Even a bad girl can instantly transform into a good girl in a fun summer dress. I can get used to this “good girl” image. 🙂

Renzo Renzi of Gianmarco Lorenzi. FINALLY!

Drum roll please! I finally met one of the 3 brothers responsible for the jaw dropping shoe brand occupying more than 30% of my shoe collection and some of the creations posted on Shoeholics facebook page just about everyday (samples featured below) and featured in Shoeholics Magazine sold on newsstands.

Renzo Renzi is one of the 3 brothers behind the reason why a lot of women worldwide salivate over the Gianmarco Lorenzi shoes, myself included.

During the Summer of 2009, I had the honor of getting an autographed limited edition Swarovski crystal embellished pair of the original design of the double platform pumps from his brother Gianni (pictured further below). That pair made its way to the cover of the international best selling book The Shoeholic, unbeknownst to Gianni. I have an unconditional fondness for the brand, long before I even met or communicated with any of the brothers. They are one of the most sincere group of people in the shoe industry. It really makes a BIG difference to put a face to a brand/design. I can’t get enough of their shoes! Bellissimo!

Detailing Outfits, The Extra Touch

Sometimes the most intricate small things added to a look can make or break it. In my case, it’s my vintage gold rose brooch. I have had this for as long as I can remember, probably my very first brooch since I was a little girl. This Summer would be my first time using it in years! It was the base of foundation for my entire look today. I started with that and built the look from there. Who knew a small tiny accessory could yield all of these? The vintage sunglasses also helps 🙂

However, I must say this would be my first time ever wearing these beautiful colorful platform shoes. One should never break in a new pair strolling around in the city. I am now paying the price nursing my feet. Fashion is fun, one should never, ever complain about shoes hurting! Least not me of all people! 🙂

I hope you like the color coordination. Happy Summer!

“Window Shopping” & Then…BOOM! Shoes Happened!

Another day in the city, fully determined to keep my feet in my Dior red patent leather shoes and what do I see? I just had to “test out” the fabulous pair by Giuseppe Zanotti from their flagship store on Madison Avenue in NYC. The shoes would look good with a nice solid color tailored skirt or dress to allow them to shine on their own. They do make the legs longer and feet super cute! I am in love!

What’s a girl to do with all these sales going on in the city? So much to see and wear!

Ok, ok let me be generous. Call the Giuseppe Zanotti store 212 650 0455, tell them you want the shoe you saw on TINU. They will know the exact one. They have VERY few left. Good luck~! 🙂
